SYN flood attack is a form of Denial of Service (DOS) attack. Where an attacker sends a continuous SYN request from randomly generated fake host IP address to a victim computer system. As a result the victim machine initiate a SYS ACK response to SYN request in order to establish a TCP connection.Which starts to slowly consume the victim’s system resources enough to a point making the system unresponsive to legitimate network traffic resulting denial of service.
